I still tell people about the van
lain dormant in the train
station's parking lot so long,
it raised its own garden
of weeds, flowers about its wheels,
dust on the windows, tires deflated, tired
of holding their stale breath.
Whose decision was it, to uproot
the monument? How would those arriving only to leave be
different upon seeing this testament
to what happens when people forget
to come back, or decide not to?
